Jordan is a native of Salem, Massachusetts. Here's
how J.J. himself tells it...
"The first photo (at right) was taken as a publicity shot at WRKO in 1971
when I was the all-night jock. When I left that air shift, I became National
Program Director for the Star stations...KISN Portland Oregon, KOIL AM &
FM in Omaha and WIFE (AM) in Indianapolis.
(I believe Jordan was programming KGW/Portland in December,
1971 - this needs to be confirmed... Shel Swartz)
I joined Taft Broadcasting in 1973 and turned on new Top-40 WGRQ FM in Buffalo.
In 1974 I was hired by Paul Drew to program WHBQ (RKO) Memphis and in 1975
I returned to Boston as the Program Director of the Big 68, WRKO.
I left in 1977, moved to Los Angeles, and was the Top 40 Editor at Radio
& Records where I also started a new weekly column called 'Street Talk.'
I later got into the record business and was VP Promotion for then EMI Records.
In the early 80s, I moved to Dallas and got into sales at then Satellite
Music Network (now ABC). I also worked at WBAP/Fort Worth and then joined
KRLD and The Texas State Network in Dallas in 1994 where I still host a
Saturday and Sunday Texas syndicated show, Lone Star Fishing. I am also
Program Director of "Talk 1190" KOOO (AM), CBS' newest station.
The newer photo (1997) is a publicity shot I use for TV and acting. Until
recently, I was also the outdoors reporter for the Fox affiliate in Dallas."
J.J. wants you to know his real name, which is Jay Durkin. He also spent
some time in the early 200s at TM Productions, the jingle company.
