Roger Allan (real name: Roger Allan Bump) segued to WRKO directly from WNAC radio. Atlantic Ventures took over WRKO in 1989, and In the interest of their budget (and consolidation of radio in general), the company fired Roger. After WRKO, he did fill-in work as a talk-show host at WTSL radio in Lebanon, NH. Roger and his wife, Carolyn, lived in New Hampshire.

Mr. Bump was born in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1949. He served in the Navy for two years and then enrolled at Curry College in Milton, graduating in 1952. He began his career working at radio stations in Brockton, Nashua and Marlborough, first as a disc jockey and then working his way up to reporter, News Director, and in the 1970s, when Ed Walsh became News Director, Roger stayed on as News and Public Affairs Director for the station. Roger worked for WRKO for 29 years, until he retired in 1990.

Roger passed away on Monday, July 1, 2008,of heart failure. He was 79 years old.

Roger was truly a gentleman. He considered his days at WRKO as well as his days in the U.S. Navy "the best times of my life!"
